Ayr Wellness, a leading vertically integrated cannabis operator in several states across the U.S., selected Connolly Brothers to build its new dispensary facility in Watertown, Mass. The project involved a full renovation to an existing 1920s-era building that was brought up to code, major site work to address an old foundation and unsuitable soil, as well as the demolition of an adjacent building to make room for a parking lot using new porous pavement to keep water on site.

Collaborating with Scott/Griffin Architects, Ltd., Connolly implemented design touches such as vaulted beam ceilings, terrazzo floors, high-finish cabinetry and display cases, and contemporary lighting. The dispensary also required installation of an intensive security system, in alignment with Massachusetts Cannabis Control Commission mandates.
