Great Marsh Brewing had a vision of building a state-of-the-art, 30,000 hectoliter brewery with a tap room, restaurant, and full bar located on a 13,000 square foot marsh that is subject to changing tides in scenic Essex. In order to achieve this, Great Marsh relied on Connolly Brothers' 140 years of expertise in water-adjacent construction to get the job done right.

Connolly was selected as the design-build construction manager during the early stages of project planning. Connolly worked alongside the owner and Niemitz Design Group, Inc., on site selection, conceptual budget estimating, schematic design, design development, and production of construction documents. The Connolly team successfully navigated a challenging construction process, which included a friction pile foundation system, structural steel frame, and installation of brewery equipment.

This project was recognized by the Massachusetts chapter of Associated Builders and Contractor (ABC) for excellence in construction.
