I have always been interested in architecture, and this interest led me to construction.
What does your role at Connolly Brothers entail?
My role is to provide preconstruction services to our clients, which can involve site selection advice, conceptual estimating and budgeting, preliminary project scheduling, and constructability analysis. I also develop and maintain relationships with our subcontractor base to assure that they continue to provide pricing proposals and that they feel appreciated and valued as a team member.
What do you enjoy the most about what you do?
I enjoy working with my co-workers — both from the Connolly design team and the project management team — on projects. It is rewarding to work as a team and to assist our clients in realizing their construction goals.
What makes you successful in your work?
Attention to detail and experience gained over 40 years in the construction industry is what makes me successful in my work.
What is one of the most memorable projects you've worked on in your time here at Connolly?
The most memorable and rewarding projects are the many projects we have done for non-profit organizations. These organizations provide much-needed services, usually with limited budgets. Knowing that we can help them with the physical infrastructure they need is rewarding, and seeing their work firsthand is inspiring.
What do you like to do outside of work?
I love to travel and spend time with my family and dear friends. I am also an avid New England sports team fan and enjoy following them.
What advice would you give to someone interested in your type of role? What have been some of the most important lessons that you have learned throughout your career?
Pay attention to and learn from your co-workers, your clients, and your subcontractors. They have a lot to say, and their input is invaluable.
